How Often Should You Get a Massage?

It is the question almost everyone asks at the end of a first session, and the honest answer is that it depends on what brought you there. Here is a way to think about it that does not involve buying a package you will not use.

If it is everyday tension

Desk work, driving, carrying children, sleeping awkwardly. This kind of tension builds slowly and comes back, so most people find a rhythm somewhere between every three and six weeks. The goal is not to chase it once it is bad. It is to book the next one while you still feel good, which is exactly when it is easiest to forget.

If you are training

Runners, cyclists and anyone in a structured training block usually want sessions timed around the schedule rather than the calendar. A deeper session sits better a few days out from a hard effort than the night before one. If you have a race or an event coming up, say so when you book and Kimberly will work backwards from the date with you.

If it is about switching off

Some people book for the hour itself, not for a specific ache. That is a completely legitimate reason, and monthly tends to be the sweet spot: frequent enough to feel like something you do, infrequent enough that it still feels like an occasion.

The first few are different

If you are coming in with something that has been building for months, the first two or three sessions may sit closer together than your eventual rhythm. That is normal, and it is worth asking directly at the end of a session what spacing your therapist would suggest. You will get a straighter answer in person than from any article.

What changes when it comes to you

The main reason people fall out of a rhythm is friction: the drive, the parking, the getting-presentable-again afterwards. Mobile massage removes most of that. When the only commitment is an hour and a cleared patch of floor, keeping to a schedule stops being an act of will.
